Stamps and Purolator looking to public to help them tackle hunger

Stamps fans headed to Friday night’s game are asked to bring a food or cash donation for the Calgary Food Bank.

Purolator is teaming up with the Stampeders for the 12th season of the Tackle Hunger program.

In those 12 years, over 6.5 million pounds of food have been collected across Canada.

Callie Scott with Purolator said good donation ideas are non-perishable foods items, baby formula or baby food.

“For some people taking the C-Train to the game, it might not feasible to bring boxes or bags of food with you. Cash is king and the food bank has great purchasing power, so a dollar, a toonie, a five dollar bill would really go a long way.”

The Calgary Food Bank goes through about 1.5 million pounds of food each week, and Scott added one dollar equals two pounds of food.

All the food/cash donated Friday will go straight to the Calgary Food Bank.
