Black bears found in washroom return to Banff National Park

Three little black bears who were found huddled in a Banff area washroom last year have been returned to the national park.

The orphans have been in care since being discovered and are now healthy enough to live their lives in the Banff backcountry.

They were transported in the early morning hours Tuesday.

In April 2017, the bears were found abandoned inside a roadside washroom to the bewilderment of park staff.

Their mother could not be found and it’s still unclear how they ended up in the washroom.

After a year of rest, including hibernation the bears now weigh over 100 pounds, and officials think they have a good chance of surviving.
