Jillian joined the CityNews Calgary team in January 2022 as a Video Journalist after spending six months with Prime Time Local News in Lloydminster as an agriculture reporter and anchor.
She holds a degree from Mount Royal University's Broadcast Media Studies program, with a minor in philosophy.
Her first introduction to the news industry came in June of 2020, with an internship at CTV Calgary. She later joined that team as a digital content producer through the first year of the pandemic.
Throughout this role, she worked alongside reporters and developed a passion for long-form storytelling -- later creating a documentary about the agricultural industry and food labelling.
Jillian grew up near Carbon, Alta., and credits her involvement in 4H for her love of communication and sharing information. Her favorite part of working in the news industry is the ability to bridge gaps in information and share people's stories, with a focus on human-centered news.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with animals she fosters with AARCS.
